ABEOKUTA 10KM RACE: SENATOR ADEOLA BACKS 2026 EDITION, CONFIRMS OCTOBER 3 ATTENDANCE
Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) has pledged his support for the 2026 Abeokuta 10KM Race, confirming that he plans to be present for the fifth edition scheduled for October 3 in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Adeola gave the assurance when the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), Mrs Yetunde Olopade, paid him a courtesy visit to formally invite him to the race, which is being held in his honour.
The Senator commended Olopade for her leadership of NSML and expressed appreciation for the decision to honour him through the road race.
Olopade said the Senator was being recognised for his contributions to youth and sports development in Ogun State, while presenting him with a running kit during the visit.
The 2026 race is being organised as a strictly Nigerian athletes-only event, with organisers using the platform to promote homegrown athletics talent. The race will start at 7:00am from Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, and finish at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto.
Registration remains ongoing, while race-kit and bib collection is scheduled for September 30 to October 2 ahead of race day.
With athletes, sports officials, enthusiasts and other stakeholders expected in Abeokuta, the event is set to provide another major platform for Nigerian road-running talent.
