UEFA ANNOUNCES MINUTE OF SILENCE FOR LATE TENERIFE STRIKER JESÚS DE MIGUEL

Tonight’s UEFA Champions League matches will feature a special tribute following the tragic death of the 30-year-old Spanish forward.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed before its matches this week in honour of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel Alameda, who died on Tuesday, November 3, at the age of 30.

The decision follows the tragic incident involving the Spanish forward during Tenerife’s Segunda División encounter against FC Andorra on Monday.

De Miguel suffered a serious collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in the closing stages of the match. He was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away the following morning.

UEFA EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES

UEFA expressed its sadness over the forward’s death and extended its deepest condolences to his family, friends, teammates and everyone associated with CD Tenerife.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin also paid tribute, saying that the organisation’s thoughts were with everyone affected by the tragedy.

The minute’s silence will be observed before European fixtures this week, including Tuesday and Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League matches, as well as Thursday’s Europa League and Conference League games.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIXTURES TO FEATURE TRIBUTE

Several top European clubs are scheduled to take part in tonight’s Champions League fixtures, including Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

The tribute will provide an opportunity for players, officials and supporters across Europe to honour the memory of the late Tenerife forward.

Football has once again been reminded that beyond the competition, trophies and rivalries, the human life remains far more important.

May Jesús de Miguel rest in peace.
