BEN SHELTON STUNS ALCARAZ AS US OPEN SEMI-FINAL LINE-UP TAKES SHAPE

American tennis star Ben Shelton has produced one of the biggest shocks of the 2026 US Open after defeating defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a dramatic five-set quarter-final.

Shelton won 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 after a marathon contest that lasted four hours and 28 minutes.

The match ended at approximately 3:33 a.m., making it the latest finish in US Open history.

Shelton’s victory means the defending champion’s title defence is over, while the American advances to his first US Open semi-final.

He will face fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the last four, guaranteeing an American men’s finalist at the tournament.

The result represents a major opportunity for American tennis, with the United States guaranteed its first men’s singles finalist at the US Open since 2006.
