LIVERPOOL COME FROM BEHIND TO BEAT ATLETICO MADRID IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Liverpool began their 2026/27 UEFA Champions League campaign with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid at Anfield.
Atlético took the lead through Marcos Llorente, putting Liverpool under early pressure.
The home side responded strongly, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister finding the net to complete Liverpool’s comeback.
The victory gives Liverpool an important three points at the start of the league phase and provides an early boost to their hopes of progressing into the knockout stages.
The result also demonstrated Liverpool’s ability to respond under pressure against experienced European opposition.
