CHELLE NAMES NEW-LOOK SUPER EAGLES SQUAD FOR NIGERIA’S OCTOBER CLASH WITH RUSSIA

Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle has also unveiled a separate 24-man squad for Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia in October.

The encounter is scheduled for Tuesday, 6th October 2026, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Russia.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi will lead the squad, with Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Benjamin Fredricks, Raphael Onyedika and Akor Adams among the players selected.

The friendly provides Chelle with an opportunity to assess more players outside his regular AFCON qualifying group and give emerging talents valuable experience at senior international level.

Several players have received their first invitation to the senior national team, including Samuel James, Victory Akpe, Chibuzo Nwoko, Stephen Michael, Igor Wilfred, Ridwan Abdulrasaq, Suleiman Mubarak, Aderemi Adeoye, Peter Edokpolor, Abubakar Umar and Abdullahi Umar.

The squad also includes experienced forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who returns to the national-team picture.

The Russia fixture could therefore provide Chelle with an important opportunity to examine the depth available to the Super Eagles ahead of future competitive assignments.

SUPER EAGLES 24-MAN SQUAD FOR RUSSIA FRIENDLY

Goalkeepers: Michael Atata, Samuel James, Stanley Nwabali.

Defenders: Kenneth Igboke, Isaac James, Benjamin Fredricks, Emmanuel Fernandez, Victory Akpe, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Abdullahi Bewene.

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Chibuzo Nwoko, Stephen Michael, Igor Wilfred, Ridwan Abdulrasaq, Suleiman Mubarak, Aderemi Adeoye.

Forwards: Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Peter Edokpolor, Abubakar Umar, Abdullahi Umar.

The Russia friendly will take place just one week after Nigeria’s September AFCON qualifying fixtures and will form another important part of Chelle’s preparations for the future.
