CHELSEA ENTER NEW OWNERSHIP ERA AS CLEARLAKE TAKES FULL CONTROL
Chelsea have entered a new phase of ownership after Clearlake Capital took full control of the Premier League club following the acquisition of the stakes previously held by Todd Boehly and Mark Walter.
Boehly, who became the public face of Chelsea’s ownership group after the 2022 takeover, has stepped down as chairman.
Clearlake had already been the largest shareholder in the ownership consortium, and the latest transaction gives the investment firm full control of the club. Swiss businessman Hansjörg Wyss remains an important stakeholder.
The ownership change comes after four years of significant investment in Chelsea, including major spending on players and infrastructure.
The club says Clearlake intends to continue the strategic direction established since the 2022 takeover.
