MAKINDE APPROVES TWO BUSES FOR SHOOTING STARS AFTER CAF VICTORY
Sunday 6th September 2026: Shooting Stars Sports Club
Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has approved the immediate release of two buses to Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan as the Oluyole Warriors continue their campaign on the continental stage.
The buses comprise a 32-seater and an 18-seater, with the vehicles expected to support the club’s activities and logistics. The development was announced by Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a statement issued on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
The approval comes shortly after Shooting Stars recorded an impressive victory over Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
According to the Commissioner, the gesture reflects the state government’s commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State in continental football.
The current CAF campaign is particularly significant for Shooting Stars, marking the club’s first continental appearance in 27 years.
Prince Oyelade said Governor Makinde had assured Shooting Stars supporters that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to help the club remain in contention for continental honours.
He added that the government was determined not only to sustain the team’s current momentum but also to restore the old glory of the “Darling Club of Oyo State.
”The Commissioner urged the players, technical crew and management to remain focused, disciplined and committed as they continue their continental journey, assuring them of the state government’s continued backing.
The latest gesture provides another boost for Shooting Stars as the club seeks to make a strong return to the African football scene and revive the pride associated with the historic Oluyole Warriors.
